Margaret Mottice Creighton was the oldest daughter -- or at least the first married -- of Peter and Pheby Mottice. I conclude that her birth date was around 1795-99 and that she died around 1817-1820.
There is no information about her except for a single mention in an 1816 edition of the Ohio Repository announcing her marriage to John Creighton. Because she married in 1816, and because Peter and Pheby likely did not marry until the mid 1790s, this puts her birth date in the latter part of that decade.
There is little information about her husband, John Creighton, either, although the Creighton name is prominent in early Stark County history. According to historian E.A. Heald, a John Creighton was one of the early pioneers along with Peter Mottice. If a John Creighton married Peter Mottice's daughter in 1816, that suggests that he was the son of Peter Mottice's friend. This close relationship between the Mottices and the Creightons would also explain why several subsequent generations of Mottices have middle names of "Creighton", including Grant Mottice's father John Creighton Mottice.
But what suggests that she died shortly after her marriage? Margaret's sister, Abigail -- whose birth date we also do not know -- married in 1821. This fact is mentioned in an 1821 edition of the Ohio Repository, and her husband's name is identified as -- John Creighton.
There is no indication that the husbands are the same person. Then again, no existing records suggest that it is a different John Creighton. What we do know is that there is no further mention of Margaret Mottice Creighton, including in the Waynesburg Presbyterian Church records, which could well be the best available records.
So in light of a better hypothesis, I'll assume that the Margaret and Abigail married the same man -- 5 years apart, because Margaret was not living by 1821. Given the era, one might reasonably assume that she died in childbirth.
